The Tostan Training Center Team is pleased to announce the dates for Tostan’s Human-Rights Approach to Community-led Development: A Hands-On Workshop in English April 6-15, 2016.
Welcome to community activists, members of local, national and international organizations, as well as representatives from academia and the media alike, our interactive training’s goal is to catalyze like-minded individuals through building communities of positive social transformation.
This 10-day workshop provides a comprehensive overview of Tostan’s award-winning human rights-based non-formal education program by combining both theory and practice. Participants will understand Tostan’s philosophy of community-led development and its non-formal three-year education curriculum; experience Tostan’s teaching strategies first-hand; interact with other community activists; connect successful development practices to development theories for changing deeply entrenched social norms; and explore holistic monitoring, evaluation and effective program management.
Each day contains participatory activities and lively discussions on application, an end-of-day reflective activity, along with theoretical and practical content that ranges from the Nature and Dynamics of Social Norm Change and Capacity to Aspire to the Importance of Respect and Empathy in Development and Social Mobilization Team forums.
Participants will cooperate with Tostan facilitators, staff, and partner communities through village visits and a Community Management Committee (CMC) roundtable. Moreover, they will learn from one another, as they work to bring positive social transformation to their communities.
The $2200 training fee includes all course materials, room and board, field visits and transportation to and from the airport.
